2010 Fireworks Countdown at City Hall
First of all, we will like to wish everyone a very happy new year!
We planned to go Marina Barrage to view the fireworks but we found out that it was close to public after we reached Marina Bay MRT station. There's some event there and to enter, you to have pay $48. It was 7pm, and we rush down to esplanade to search for a good fireworks viewing/photography spot.
Despite being 5 hours earlier, all good photography spots has been taken by people. What was left for us is a spot where the tree branch will block half of the view in my camera. When there's only 10 mins left to the countdown, people started to stand up and move towards the bay and a better area was made available for me to setup my tripod. Well, the tree branches are still visible in the photos, but not a lot.
Seriously, fireworks photography isn't too hard. Setup your tripod, set camera to a 6-8 sec exposure (or even blub), aperture of F11-13, focus your lens to infinite, get a remote and press like crazy throughout the show. BUT what is hard, is to reach the location freaking early to chop a good location. Else you will end up like me...
Going home after the fireworks was madness!!!!!! It's 200% more crowded than what you can experience from the train. There's road blocks everywhere to prevent people from reaching the train station as fast as possible. What's even worse was that the traffic polices were guiding people in circle!!
Some people got frustrated and confronted them, and sounded like the fight will begin anytime. Dear then decided to not follow the stupid crowd and she successfully led us to Suntec City's underground link to MRT station... If is not for her, we might reach home even later!
